220 mmDining car WRRm of the ČSD, Ep. IV
Dining car type Bautzen
In 1978, VEB Waggonbau Bautzen built 40 combined dining and buffet cars for the ČSD (Czechoslovak State Railways).
These 26,40 m long cars conformed to UIC Type X and were approved for speeds of up to 140 km/h.
They were initially designated WRab, later becoming WRRm.
A unique feature was the layout of the kitchen, which in these carriages was located between the dining room and the buffet room.
The ČSD often used these cars in international trains, such as the „Vindobona,“ when they were responsible for providing the dining car.
In 1980, the WRRm was converted into a conventional dining car with a large dining room and the kitchen at one end.
Twenty of these dining cars, designated WRm, were delivered to the Bulgrian State Railway BDŽ.
By 1989, a total of 94 such cars had been built and delivered to various customers, including the MITROPA (see item 95400).
